The danish electro rappers Specktors just released this video for the single “broerne brænder” wich means “the bridges are burning”.

Boss! (HipHop lingo for the Cool I guess…)

The video is obviously inspired by “The Shining” why is that?

“We asked a couple of directors about ideas for the video. We got everything from a documentary’ish political thing, a concept of us hunting down a man in a forest and then an idea of ninjas jumping around in Copenhagen. But we all agreed that Daniel Kragh-Jakobsens idea was the best. The only thing we doubted was if it was possible to do it in a way that didn’t look stupid or cheap. And we believe that Daniel and the rest of the team truly managed that. You don’t wanna mess up the legacy of a movie that boss!”

What is the song about? and why do you think the city is burning?

“The song is about many things – its actually more about uniting, than the opposite. The first verse obviously has a lot of references to the Ungdomshuset-situation, and is rather political, but not preaching. The second is about partying and raving crazy, and JonasForFanden’s is about haters in general.

The city isn’t necessarily burning right now. But it has been, and it will some time again. But burning bridges doesn’t have to be a bad thing.”

Where is the location of the shooting?

“It’s filmed in a weekend on Fyn, late march 2010. No one really got more than three hours of sleep, and we used satan-knows-how-many liters of fake blood. A true bloodbath. Which is boss.”

what was the shooting like?

“Sluzh was definitely the one who had to go through the worst stuff, being the main character. When we had to do the scene where Ena hits him with a baseball bat, they tried a couple of times to do it in a soft way. But it looked way too lame. And if you know how Sluzh behaves on stage, you know that he’s always going all the way. And so he did on the set. He asked her to really beat the shit out of him with the bat. And so she did. For like an hour or so afterwards, he couldn’t really do anything but sit down and mumble. Of course he got a crazy headache, but that is the Specktors way, is the baseball bat way! And Sluzh is just keeping it real!”
