Building a city out of paper, collages, posters, sculptures and drawings makes Ana Serrano’s world unlike any other.
Ana Serrano is one heck of a creative. Inspired by her mixed cultural background of Mexico and California, Ana explores low socioeconomic city living to re-create and examine issues that often go ignored. Tackling such heavy social issues may sound serious, but Ana’s mixed media style and quirky sense of humour makes her artistic creations fun, colorful and intriguing.
By creating meticulously detailed mini-cities in soft unthreatening materials, she opens up an area of communication and understanding between seemly contrasting social classes.
In her latest work, ‘Salon of Beauty’, people are invited to walk amongst a life-sized cardboard replica of a lower-class neighborhood in california.
