I have been a very busy girl! Since arriving last week I have been deejaying, partying my ass off, spilling beer all over some girls’ head at Vela (big accident – undskyld) and working, working, working! In all of this madness, I have checked out some really dope places that you should all know about…if you don’t already.
For starters, if you are in need of some quality food and can’t find any place you like in Copenhagen, than you must stop by Cafe Salonen on Sankt Peders Stræde 20 in Central Copenhagen. It reminds me of cafes in New York, with a no frills attitude, an intimate vibe and really great food. Everything is homemade and super fresh and the bread is amazing. Order the tuna sandwich ASAP. Salonen is owned by two Icelandic dudes that are very friendly and warm. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, deejays perform from 9-1. I played last week and it was so much fun. I play again next Friday so be there or be square!
After dinner at Cafe Salonen, head to Von Fressen, located at Vesterbrogade 124, for a drink or two before heading out to the club. If you dare to order a Karl Marx (quite ballsy of them to name a drink after an infamous dictator), you will be pleasantly surprised. The cocktail is mixed with ginger extract, sugar water, loads of rum (they don’t measure their rum out like most joints in this town…instead they count a long 5 seconds) and top it off with passion fruit. It is like crack in a cup and will surely get you pumped for a night on the dance floor at Jolene.
Jolene, Flæsketorvet 81, is my FAVORITE place in town and will be featuring YOURS TRULY spinning this Thursday from 10-3. If you are in town and want to get down to some really dope music, please stop by and make sure to say hello. I might even play a song for you if you ask me nicely!
