Now that’s what I call a good application!

feature

What makes a good application? Having read a lot of applications myself I know that there’s no simple answer to that question. But if I should give one good advice on how to write a good application it would be: BE YOURSELF AND BE CREATIVE! Jesus Christ, what a cliché but read the story below and you might agree with me!

The other day I came across a blog post that really got my attention. Mark Boulton Design Studio was looking for a new intern. They wanted a person they could teach, nurture and mould into a world-class talent.

To get the right person they asked their applicants to hand write a letter describing why they’d like to spend two years of their life at Mark Boulton Design. To keep it fun and find out what made the applicants tick, they were also asked to tell a story, write a haiku or draw a picture.

They got so overwhelmed by the amount of awesome applications from all over the globe that they decided to share their ‘Top 10′ on their blog (with their permission of course).

In this post you’ll find the application of the chosen one, Mark Boulton Design’s new intern, Colin.
Colin, hand-delivered a large hand-made box. Inside were some instruction cards and a number of envelopes we were instructed to open in order. Have a look for yourself:

Writing the right application for a job is vital to getting that interview where you can dazzle your future employers with your cool and sweet personality :) The way Colin and the others in the Top Ten has done it is a very good way to get a jump start on your career! Also remember to write an application that is relevant for the given company and shows you have taken the time to understand what they do and how.
