In need of some decent music and a good night out? Meet the Eclectic Moniker. This year they played at Trailerpark Festival and are about to embark on a European tour. Their sound? Tropical beats but with a twist of something dark.
Seven guys from Funen shared a passion for music. As the years went by they also shared philosophical discussions, parties and plenty of drinks. So it was a fairly easy decision to form a band together. They called it The Eclectic Moniker.
This summer, they released their first record and this autumn they are on tour playing, among other cities, Hamburg, Reykjavik and Copenhagen. Artrebels asked one of the band members, Esben Beldring, a couple of questions:
How would you describe your music?
It’s a collaboration between indie, pop and exotic music. A seven-way-vibration of music, performance art and invitation.
What inspires you?
Genders and animals, friendships and coffee-breaks. Sex, love and all the great songwriters in the world.
What are your dreams for The Eclectic Moniker?
One of our dreams is to travel a lot. The continents and oceans, experience new ways of music, art, living and being human. We want to explore what our music-collective can bring us. We have built up a great trust and comfort with each other at this point, but we want to experience new nights, reach even greater mountain tops. It would be nice to record an album in San Fransisco, South America or Hawaii.
You are all experienced musicians – how is this project different from the ones you have had in the past?
This band is a great sum-up of a lot af past bands we have played in. We are all pretty damn good at playing and have played for many years. Lots of break ups, clear views and hard work has build us up as very independent alfa’ish musicians but with all our stars combined we will be lead in the right direction.
