ArtRebels will be teaming up with three brilliant artists from our Paper Cuts series THIS WEEKEND to create “The Wild West” wall – an improvised painting project where our chosen artists will get the chance to paint ten meters of the ‘Byens Hegn’ green metro construction wall on Sønder Boulevard (Copenhagen.)
Paper Cuts artists Stine Hvid, Josephine Kyhn and Nicolai Bruun will be painting for two days and we’d love to see you down there. The idea is to get the artists to start at one place then swap around and continue each other’s work.
The event is organized by Områdefornyelsen Vesterbro and Copenhagen’s Metro ‘Byens Hegn’ initiative. It will be part of a two day event on Sønder Boulevard. Local cafes will be participating and creating a cozy atmosphere. The famous Rita Blå’s flea market will also be happening along the Boulevard for the last time this season on 12th of August.
We’ve chosen “The Wild West” as a theme. It will represent the atmosphere and community of Vesterbro as well as the district’s urban lifestyle in general. Since none of the artists are from the area, their ideas will present an understanding of what Vesterbro looks like from an outside perspective. They will be playing around with the diversity of the area – from the infamous Dyrehaven café to Kødbyen (meat city) and different types of people that live and spend their leisure time in Vesterbro.
We’ll have some of the ArtRebels team on site taking photos and running competitions to win some amazing ArtRebels goodies for the wall’s audience.
So if you’re in Copenhagen from the 11th to the 12th of August, then come check our wall out!
